Cities including Pasadena have decided to stop routine road-widening. The planning department has effectively done this in its Downtown Street Standards, but road widening continues unabated throughout the rest of the city, and continues to degrade walkability, bike-ability, neighborhoods, economic viability, etc. What will it take to discontinue the city's reflexive road widening? Especially in population-dense, transit-rich, pedestrian areas, including Koreatown, Hollywood, East Hollywood, Pico Union.
